Orange - Alamance Water System, Inc.

Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. (OAWS) is a non-profit membership corporation organized in 1965 to serve water to the rural areas of the central portion of western Orange County and the central portion of eastern Alamance County.  The office of the corporation is located at 5900 US 70, Mebane, NC, and its water treatment plant is located at 2101 US 70, Efland, NC. 

OAWS water sources include:

  • Eno River water in Corporation Lake,  
  • Lake Orange provides additional water during drought conditions via the Eno River. 
  • Three wells are located at our water treatment plant and Kimrey tank site on Hwy 119S.
  • In March of 2005, the Orange-Alamance Water System reached an agreement for an additional source for water.  Orange-Alamance began purchasing water from the City of Burlington via interconnections with the Town of Haw River.

 

Orange-Alamance owns and operates its water treatment plant and distribution system.  The Board of Directors began developing the water system in the late 1960's.  Water was first distributed in 1969 to approximately 300 customers.  The water system currently serves 3,573 customers.

Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. customers are currently using an average of 0.600 mgd.
